6 November 1967 - TWA 169

Flight TW159 attempted to takeoff from runway 27L when it passed a Delta Airlines DC-9, mired adjacent to the runway. At that moment a sound was heard on the right side of the plane and a yaw movement of the flight controls was felt. The first officer believed that his aircraft had struck the DC-9 and aborted the takeoff at or near the V1 speed. The 707 ran off the runway, shearing off the main gear. The plane came to rest 421ft past the runway end and caught fire.
