4 November 1993 - China Airlines 605

Flight 605 touched down at 150kts, 2100ft down runway 13 following an Instrument Guidance System approach. The aircraft was felt to 'float'. Speedbrakes were extended for 1 second after touchdown and were extended again after travelling 4700ft, along with the deployment of thrust reversers and manual braking. The 747 couldn't be stopped on the 9100ft long runway and was steered to the left to avoid approach lights. The aircraft then skidded off the wet runway and ended up in shallow water of Hung Hom Bay. The flight landed with heavy winds (070deg, 20kts gusting to 38kts) and heavy rainfall, caused by tropical storm Ira.
